Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet: first look!
Lenovo today announced that it is launching the new ThinkPad X60 Tablet PC. According to Lenovo, this new 3.8 pound tablet is the lightest in its class and it is dressed to impress.
"The Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet PC marries the best aspects of notebooks and pen-based devices. With new screen options, hardware capabilities and an improved sensory experience interacting with the Tablet, the new Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet is packed with the innovation our customers want," said Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo.
The X60 Tablet features a 12.1" anti-reflective/anti-glare display with a 170 degree viewing angle. Screen resolutions of 1024x768 (XGA) and 1400x1050 (SXGA+) are available with the X60 Tablet.
Intel Low Voltage Core Duo and Ultra Low Voltage Core Solo are supported as is up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and up to a 120GB hard drive. The X60 Tablet's networking options are plentiful as it can be optioned up with 802.11b/g wireless or 802.11b/g/n wireless and it features a built-in WWAN module. The X60 Tablet also features ThinkPad stalwarts like an integrated fingerprint reader, ThinkVantage Active Protection System for the HDD and integrated TrackPoint.
The ThinkPad X60 Tablet’s design also includes greater performance with more memory, a larger hard drive and longer battery life than Lenovo’s previous Tablet PC. The ThinkPad X60 Tablet also prepares people for the next generation of wireless connectivity with select models offering 802.11n technology2 as well as an embedded WWAN card. ThinkPad X60 Tablet users are also ready for the next operating system with many ThinkPad X60 Tablet models shipped Windows Vista Capable and some Vista Premium Ready.
Power options include a 4-cell or 8-cell Lithium-Ion battery. With an ULV Core Solo processor and 8-cell battery, the X60 Tablet can function for up to 7.5 hours.
The 10.8" x 9.6" x 1.1-1.3" X60 Tablet will begin shipping in December of this year at a starting price of $1,799.
