Canon Introduces New Vixia HD Camcorders

Canon is riding on the High Definition camcorder market for the long haul, having just introduced its new range of Vixia HD camcorders in the US. These new models will be the first batch from Canon to record AVCHD (H.264) video at a full 24Mbps bitrate for superior detail and color accuracy to the trained eye. The flagship HF11 comes with twice the flash memory of its predecessor, standing at 32GB. Just in case that is not enough, you can always rely on the SDHC memory card slot to store all your favorite memories in High Definition. The HG20 and HG21 will come with 60GB and 120GB capacities, respectively. It will be slightly heavier though since it uses hard drives as the storage medium of choice. All three models will feature optical image stabilization and 12x zoom lenses. You can pick up the Vixia HG20 for $949, the HF11 for $1,199 and the HG21 for $1,299 when they ship sometime next month onwards.
