Backplane-compatible WD VelociRaptor Hard Drive

Western Digital has begun to ship their brand new backplane-compatible VelociRaptor hard drive that was specially designed for 3.5" hard drive-based servers, PCs and Macs, and basically anyone else who has the need for a backplane structure. Each VelociRaptor hard drive will come with double the capacity, along with a touted 35% performance increase as well as an equal percentage when it comes to running at cooler temperatures compared to the previous generation. These drives also take pride in having the highest available reliability rating of any SATA drive at a stunning 1.4 million hours MTBF.
