Analyst blames iPhone chipset for poor 3G performance

Analyst Richard Windsor (Nomura Securities) blames chipmaker Infineon for the iPhone 3G reception and performance problems. First, we don't know for sure if Infineon is the chip supplier for the iPhone 3G, although rumors pointed to them before the launch. Secondly, I wonder if Apple is the only customer for this chipset. If not, it would be strange that the iPhone is the only device to suffer from this alleged defect. We will see if a firmware update will fix the situation (in which case the hardware is fine) or if there will be some kind of recall mechanism. In the meantime some customers are still complaining about reception issues, and apparently, there are those who think that it can't be Apple's fault, "because they are geniuses"...
